Greetings from Fredericksburg, Virginia, which according to their slogan 'is for lovers.' Well, they seem to be changing that. The more prominent slogan now is 'LOVE' and the explanation is that it's because Virginia is - you get the picture. The Virginia Welcome Center is shown above with Carol and her halo.
We left at 3:35 a.m. and the bit of snow in Andrew's driveway has been the *only* snow our car's wheels have touched since. 11 degrees F while passing New York City, 14 degrees going around Washington, and 16 degrees here.
So the urban-intensive leg of our journey has been accomplished. All went smoothly. We just got back from a supper at Tito's Diner, preceded by a much needed car wash. It was so slushy in Montreal yesterday we drove this far in what looked like a Quebec mud ball. We got it washed before radishes sprouted on the hood.
Over 1000 kilometers clocked today. A demain.

That's a pretty good first day. I guess someone's in a hurry to get to the beach huh?
ReplyDeleteJust in a hurry to get past the heavy-duty urban driving. New Jersey is a particularly awe-inspiring jungle of hydro-electric pylons, construction cranes, factories, cranes for loading and off-loading ships, six-lane highways running alongside, over, under, and snaking around each other totally infested with myriads of vehicles in rapid motion. In the middle of this stew is a great sports complex and a huge airport with airborne jet liners coming in and departing at strange angles. Nice to be done with that.
